Every week Harcourts gold offers a large number of properties to the market through our auction system and auction rooms and each week we continue to see both buyer and sellers leave with a spring in their step, having either sold their home or in fact purchased a new home.
As at December 2020 Harcourts gold sold 90% of all the 501 properties they marketed through the auction system for the preceding 12 months. Attending auctions is an excellent way of gauging market conditions and 37% of listings coming to market with Harcourts gold are marketed through auction.
As we go to print, over the last 10 days, we have called 21 auctions and sold 21 under the hammer. With standout results in an open, transparent environment it has created certainty for all involved and delivered spectacular results in some cases. A recent example was a home in Fendalton Road with a pre-auction offer of $1,875,000 which eventually sold at $2,200,000. A property in Governors Bay opened at $770, 000 and then sold for $857,000 after previously having been listed with another company in the mid $600,000's.
There will always be a great deal of rhetoric in any marketplace, and our view is rather than theorise on it, talk to actual market specialists.
